Cherry Blossom Festival

The Cherry Blossom Festival Southern CA is a low-cost admission event to the public and located on the streets in the Little Tokyo district of downtown Los Angeles. We had over 60,000 attendees at the 2010 Festival. This festival is produced by a 100% volunteer team.

Components include:

• Main Stage - Live entertainment of Japanese Dancing, Taiko, Kimono Fashion Show – at 3pm, Teachers Making a Difference Awards, Senator Daniel Inouye Leadership Awards, George Kiriyama Educational Excellence Awards [Award ceremonies Sat at 12:30 pm] and variety of mainstage performances in dance, song and music. Best in Show Most Photogenic Dog Contest – Sunday at 3pm

• Kids Activity – Free Cultural Crafts

• Hawaiian Village – Non-stop Hawaiian entertainment and Hawaiian crafters and exhibitors.

• Cultural Pavillion includes: Photo Document Exhibit of WWII Internment Camps; Kimekomi Dolls Demonstration & Exhibit; GO Board Game, Yamaguchi Kenjinka, Sashiko and Shibori Exhibits to name a few.

• Martial Arts arena with non-stop performances.

• Odori Dancing - Everyone can join in and learn Odori Dancing in the Street!

• Craft, Corporate and Commercial Vendors

• Cherry Blossom Food Court

• J-Pop Stage – featuring new and upcoming performers

This event is produced by a 100% Volunteer Team and underwritten by private donations and sponsors. The goal for the Cherry Blossom Festival is to produce a Festival that grows more spectacular yearly - carve a cultural perception to an already historic city for more visibility, publicity and tourism; and to bridge generations and expose the mainstream population to the diverse Japanese/Japanese American cultural arts and history.

Sunday 9/25/11– 10:30 am- 5:00 pm
