Laquetta Shamblee

Producer

La Quetta is an accomplished producer and coordinator of multi-faceted public events. As founder and executive director of the Instrumental Women™ Project, she established the first annual concert featuring an all-female roster of professional jazz instrumentalists on the west coast. The inaugural May 2000 performance at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences was sold out! Starting in 2001, IWP was awarded co-production grant agreements to produce IWP’s signature “Lady Jazz” Concert Series at the Ford Amphitheatre for eight consecutive years. The production of a mini-documentary on contemporary female jazz instrumentalists is underway, funded by a grant from UCLA in collaboration with Dr. Cheryl Keyes, Associate Professor of Ethnomusicology.

She was hired to plan and coordinate the Greater Los Angeles presentation of “Eyes Wide Open” in March 2005. This nationwide, touring war memorial exhibit was presented in five southland cities over eight-days. Logistics included the recruitment of 50-60 volunteers per site, PR & media outreach, budget development, design and production of marketing materials, etc. This experienced grantwriter served as the financial administrator at the second largest HIV/AIDS outpatient clinic in Los Angeles County. Professional educator experience includes curriculum development and adjunct business faculty responsibilities at Antelope Valley Community College in Lancaster, CA. Her nonprofit consulting practice focuses on organizational systems efficiency and leadership development.
